Cambodia

15th February - 7th March 2009

This trip led by Sally, has a spiritual emphasis and will include teachings, meditation and Yoga but it is also a trip in which to have fun and enjoy the wonderful sense of humour of the Cambodian people. After years of turmoil Cambodia has now emerged as a safe and exciting destination for travel and tourism. It is also home to one of the world’s greatest religious architectural monuments, Angkor Wat.
You will be flying first into Bangkok in Thailand staying a few days “club class” at the 5-star Sofitel Silom Hotel. Here there will be time for river cruising, shopping, Temple sightseeing and a memorable ride to visit the “Bridge over the River Kwai” on the infamous Burma-Siam “'death railway”' built by Allied POWs for the Japanese during WW2.
Then the group will fly to Cambodia and the magnificent architectural masterpiece of Angkor Wat. This temple complex was once a major prosperous Khmer city and is a legacy of how mighty the Khmer Empire was. The temples represent the national pride of the Khmers and the main temple Angkor Wat has become a national symbol. Built between the 9th and 14th centuries by the Kings of this powerful civilisation, the complex was listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1992.
Besides visiting the main Angkor Wat temple, the trip will also include;

  • Enjoying the handicrafts and superb restaurants of the laid-back, riverside town of Siem Reap close to Angkor Wat
  • Crossing the Tonle Sap lake to Phnom Penh by private charter, stopping to visit the floating villages on the way
  • Seeing the sights of Phnom Penh including the Royal Palace, riverside promenade and City Market
  • Staying at the 5-star Sokha Beach Hotel and Spa located on a beautiful strip of white sand in the Southwest of the country

The cost of this three-week trip per person is: A first  payment of 800 pounds followed by a second payment of 1300 Euros.
Price includes flights, transport, hotels, breakfast and evening vegetarian meals and all teachings.
